the man

today, the man came in to our church today. the man is obviously without a place to call home. he has tattoos, bags, sadness around his whole being and he is broken in heart, spirit, mind. he challenges our idea of problems. he causes me to question, to fall in worship, that God has called me to Himself and that He is so much bigger than these things. he causes my heart to be swollen, to hurt and ache in a way that is so often unfamiliar. he causes me to think about the things that i call on for help. he causes me to hear the songs we sing in a new light, in a deeper way. today i not only hear and sing these songs, i feel them so deeply and they cause my heart to just cry out. is this You, Lord? is this Your still small voice screaming to us?

today we celebrate “palm sunday”, the day that Jesus began His walk to the cross to die for us and make a way to reach Him, to be forgiven, to live life in a different way. today is special and today the man came in to our midst. the man worshipped God with a passion unmatched, with his heart open and crying out for God to forgive him, to love him, to show him a new way, to cleanse his past and make all things new again. the man knew deeply his sin and his trespass, more deeply than i’ve experienced in a long time. in a way that breaks me and my thought of brokenness. i have been broken before You, Lord, but this man today reminded me of how far You have brought us, what we have left behind, what is left at the end of ourselves. break us, teach us, love us, today i pray…

today i pray for this man and thank You, Lord, that he has found his way to our doorstep. today i pray that You will reach him in new ways and bring people that know how to minister to his needs and his heart, mind, spirit. thank You, Lord, that he knows You and is crying out for Your saving grace and Your help. today i pray that You meet him where he is and love him. today i pray thanks to the God who brings us someone to love on in the midst of our comfort. today i pray thanks for the people at my church. they are kind, loving, compassionate and today i am blessed to watch them minister to the man. my heart is full today and i pray that the God of the universe will bless this man and set his purpose and his path in a new direction. today i prayed for the man…
