Well, it’s been a while. I have been praying every day, but haven’t really posted the prayers. We are in deep at our home. My hubby has not worked for a while. He is a very hard working man, but hasn’t been able to secure the paying contracts. We are struggling.
Have we been forgotten?
Where is God when we are feeling so lost?
We have to go back and remember. Remember God’s promises. Our feelings should not be guiding our faith.
“Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.” Ephesians 4:14
This verse falls on the heels of teaching to be unified in God, being mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Yes, it is about not following false teaching. But it should also be a statement that our feelings should not guide our faith.
James tells us that when trouble comes our way, we should consider it an opportunity for great joy. WHAT? Joy?! He goes on to tell us that we know that when our faith is tested, our ENDURANCE has a chance to grow. Growing is H A R D! But this is where we are: in a season of GROWING – and sometimes, some days, it is a season of groaning. We have been struggling this past week. Buffeted on all sides by fear. Sometimes we feel that God has abandoned us in the wilderness. Is this what the children of Moses felt? We’ve been floundering for 2 months and they were wandering for 40 years. Not quite a comparison, but yet in our time, banks, power companies, debts don’t wait. They don’t like to be told that we’ll make it up as soon as the money starts rolling again.
In the meantime, we will remember God.
“He remembered His covenant with them and relented because of His unfailing love.” Psalm 106:45
Psalm 106 is a beautiful psalm of remembering for the Israelites. It is a testimony of God’s love in the midst of their disobedience and brokenness. A way of remembering what they had done and what He has done because of His love, not theirs. So, as they have done, so we should.
We will remember our sin. We will remember what He has done for us. We will remember how He guided us to this home, this place, kept us together as a family. We will remember how He saved our son, how He loves and guides them each day. We will remember how He brought us into our church family home, how He brought each person into our lives. We will remember all the people that He has surrounded us with. We will remember that others are in worse positions. We will remember to pray. We will remember to draw close to Him. We will ask daily that He remembers us. And we will ask daily that He remembers YOU.
Today i pray for all the people who are looking for work. I pray that the employment you have been so faithfully seeking comes thru. I pray for courage in the roughest parts of the day. I pray that your faith is strengthened and you are fortified in His word. I pray that you would press on toward the goal. Today i prayed that God would remember you, turn His face toward you, answer your most persistent & desperate prayers …
