{Have mercy on me, O God, because of Your unfailing love. Because of Your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Ps51:1}

quite a word

all encompassing

{Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. Ps51:2}

it’s not something you can will yourself to do. it is a brokenness from inside that wells out of you to bring you back into right relationship with God. it breaks our pride, tears down the wall of separation, removes the veil, shows us God’s heart. it makes us raw. it makes us vulnerable. most importantly, tho, it brings us back to the one who can restore us to wholeness. our sin does not define who we are. our repentance and return to the Lord does.

{Against You, and You alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in Your sight. You will be proved right in what You say, and Your judgment against me is just. Ps51:4}

things are well, at least we thought they were.

our relationship with God was distant, but we knew He was there watching over us and wooing us back to Him. we were doing everything right, we thought. we were diligently watching the area that we fall short so frequently.

{Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and make me willing to obey You. Ps51:12}

when things are going right, you look for the other shoe to drop. you wait in anticipation for the ax to fall. things are going to well, we think, so something horrific must be in the wings waiting. we watch. we wait. we are diligent to work hard to fight against our own mistakes in that area we think is most weak. unfortunately, as we watch that area, our backs are turned and satan attacks an area that we never thought we had to protect. we thought this was safe. we thought things were good. we thought that area was proofed.

the other shoe

there it is

it has dropped and we have dropped

{The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Ps51:17}

back to our knees

back to the Lord

but God…

God is faithful. God restores. God loves. God renews.

but God is our answer

and we are grateful

and we are being renewed daily. in the midst of brokenness.

today, we pray.

we pray for restoration in the dark places. we pray for God’s light to shine thru. we pray for love to abound. we pray for you that are broken and searching. we pray for those who are seeking. seek the Lord and have peace. seek the Lord and be restored

{THEREFORE, there is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because thru Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you FREE from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2}

“I am waiting for you, Vizzini. You told me to go back to the beginning, so I have. This is where I am, this is where I will stay. I will not be moved.” – Inigo Montoya

You remember the scene… Inigo has hit bottom. He has no direction, no hope, no drive, and no purpose.

How many times is this me? Daily, weekly, yearly…

Ever feel like that?

just placing one foot in front of the other…

losing track of the destination…

Once again, here i am…

Sitting. Doing. Running. Living. Yet feeling like everything that had been striving toward is so very far away, losing track of the reason, the purpose. Life weighs down & i keep moving.

Yet, as we are burdened and demands are placed on our time, we sacrifice in the places that we can and the first thing that goes is alone time. It is precious, but matters press & press until those precious moments are given away.

It doesn’t seem to impact life right away, it doesn’t hit until we are bone dry, empty, desperate, & desolate…

So it is…

this is where i am today…

“When the job went wrong, you went back to the beginning. Well, this is where we got the job, so this is the beginning. And I am staying until Vizzini comes.” – Inigo Montoya

So I will go back to the beginning…

“In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” – John 1:1-2

We all need the recharge, the reminder. We all need to go back to the beginning and restore, renew, recharge our relationship with our Creator, our Father, the One who created the universe and everything in it.

Today i pray for each of you to have a moment to recharge, a time that is just for you to spend time fortifying your relationship with God. A time that you can meet with the only One who does not demand – take – suffocate – drown

the One who waits

the One who forgives

the One who rebuilds from ashes and dust

Today i pray that you will meet with Him before the day steals your peace & crushes your spirit. Allow Him to fortify your heart & recharge your mind & set your feet back on the path that He has created for you.

Today i thank God for giving me that time and making that space in my life and my day. i thank God for waiting for me to return, for being there when i need Him most, for forgiving me when i get too busy, and for taking me back when i blow it.
